This assistance is pledged for relief materials and rehabilitation purposes in the affected areas.

01. Sri Lanka Bans All Social Media (September 2024): A fake news report made rounds on social media, claiming that Sri Lanka had completely banned all social media in response to recent protests. The above report came out factually incorrect, though some restrictions have been put in the past; no such blanket ban exists.


2. Election Results Rigged (September 2024): Social media was swamped with false rumors over the recent election results in Sri Lanka, that were rigged. That was never verified and such result was checked by the election commission and considered proper and valid.


3. Health Minister's Miracle Cure for COVID-19 (September 2024): A baseless rumour circulated on social media regarding a miracle treatment that the Health Minister of Sri Lanka had discovered for COVID-19. Health authorities refuted this as misinformation and instead accentuated evidence-based treatments.
